Three Utah State Board of Education members have reaffirmed their support of vouchers, whose fate hangs on voters' decision in November. Referendum 1 will determine whether the nation's broadest voucher system, providing public money to families of all income levels, will help students attend private schools.

Richard Moss of Spanish Fork, Mark Cluff of Alpine, and Bill Colbert of Draper publicly support the voucher proposal.

Some other members of the board have not shared their enthusiasm including Kim Burningham, the board's chairman. He has taken an active role in Utahns for Public Schools, the primary group against implementation of Utah's voucher law.

The state school board is made up of 15 elected members from around the state.

"The result we desire is educated children," board member Cluff of Alpine said in a statement announcing his support for vouchers. "We shouldn't discriminate against private schools."
