The Voucher Referendum Vote for Vouchers, Vote for Kids In February, the Utah Legislature passed and Governor Jon Huntsman signed two bills into law (House Bill 148 and 174), creating an innovative voucher program that increases parental choice and increases per student spending in public schools. Soon after, Utahns for Public Schools (an anti-parental choice group formed by members of the education establishment, the teachers union, the PTA, and the NAACP) filed a referendum to repeal the voucher program. On November 6, 2007, Utah voters will decide whether the voucher program is ever implemented. We will win this vote, but we'll need your help. The most important thing you can do is to TALK to everyone you know about vouchers. The more people know, the more likely they are to support it.
