After adjusting for inflation, per student spending in Utah has almost doubled since 1970 and has increased by 11% in 5 years, 18% in 10 years, 38% in 15 years, and 52% in 20 years.

Student Performance:

83.8% Graduation Rate

Utah has the highest overall graduation rate in the nation, even when based on a standardized graduation measurement. At 83.8%, 87,155 students currently in Utah public schools will not finish high school.

Utah Basic Skills & Competency Test - UBSCT

High School students must pass this test to receive a basic high school diploma. Students take the test in 10th grade and can retake it in 11th and 12th grade.

National Assessment of Educational Progress

This is a national test used to measure student progress.  The test covers several subject areas and grades. 

Overall, Utah students usually score at or just below the national average, but when broken down by demographic, Utah students often score even lower below the national average.

As illustrated below, Utah is also dealing with an education gap between whites and minorities,and females and males
